Arthur's Skips was founded in 1994 by Arthur Hartley and his son, James. They began trading with just two vehicles and eight skips from premises at Warren Street, Sheffield. In 1996 Arthur's Skips waste transfer station was set up at Stevenson Road. We worked from the two sites until 1998 when we outgrew those premises and moved to 302a Neepsend Lane.
In 2002 we became a Limited Company. In 2004 we purchased further land at Hobson Avenue and currently work from the two sites. Both sites are situated within two miles of Sheffield City Centre. We currently employ over 30 people: ten Drivers; seven yard staff and many admin workers. We are currently in the process of re-licensing and changing the structure of our Hobson Avenue Site in anticipation of future growth.
We currently have over 2000 skips in service. Our 2m investment in Aggregate production, puts us alongside the fastest growing recycling companies in the country. Our policy is to replace all skips after a maximum of 3 years use (or beforehand if found necessary).
